Board member
Objectives
The Board members are responsible for the general management of the corporation.
Elected to a 3-year term by the Active members, Board members perform the duties shown in the Bylaws, section 7.
Typical tasks and tips
- Elect officers of the corporation (see Bylaws, sections 6.5. and 8.2.).
- Fill vacancies among the Board or officers until the next election (see Bylaws, sections 6.7. and 8.3.).
- Vote to accept or reject applications for active membership (see Bylaws, sections 2.2.4. and 7.2.).
- Grant life memberships (see Bylaws, section 2.5.3.).
- Elect honorary members (see Bylaws, section 2.6.).
- Determine penalties for misconduct and Bylaw violations (see Bylaws, section 7.1.).
- Suspend or expell members (see Bylaws, sections 2.8. and 7.2.).
- Set the amount of annual dues (see Bylaws, section 3.1.).
- Conduct Board meetings (see Bylaws, section 7.2.).
- Appoint committees within the Board (see Bylaws, section 7.2.).
- Audit bills and disburse funds (see Bylaws, section 7.2.).
- Change patron classification titles and monetary thresholds (see Bylaws, section 2.4.2.).
- Select individuals to fill the following positions:

- Approve final slate of plays for each season, from among those submitted by the Play reading committee.
Except for reasons of technical and/or artistic difficulty or for noncompliance with the following criteria, the top selection in each category will be approved by the Board.
Criteria:
- Wide audience appeal.
- TIP: Consider known authors, recognizable titles, and, for musicals, songs.
- Artistic merit.
- Staging should be within reasonable technical, artistic, and financial capabilities.
- Establish a yearly calendar of events and production dates and establish budgets for each production.
- Establish a budget for the Publicity Committee chair.
- Approve fund-raising projects.
- Maintain copies of historical documents and records provided by the Historian.
